A large Silverback Mountain Gorilla sits in a deep forest thicket eating its way through leaves and vines, in the highlands of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda.
This particular huge male was unperturbed by our presence. He was much more concerned with the two females next to him. One that he had just mated with and one that didn’t look best pleased with him. That day we trekked for hours through the thick forest until we came across a family of Mountain Gorillas. There are just over 1000 individuals left, so these animals represent some of the last of their species.
