A Grizzly Bear catches a Sockeye Salmon and holds it close in BC, Canada

So as not to interfere with the bears, we gently cruised up and down the river in a small boat allowing me to shoot at eye level with these incredible animals. This gives a wonderful perspective as you can see all the intricacies of how they fish and how they then eat the salmon. Usually, the bears will catch and devour the salmon instantly, tearing it apart so they can eat as many as they can in a short amount of time as possible. On this occasion, this bear held its prize close for a brief moment, almost pondering its sushi snack, giving me a wonderful opportunity to get an intimate portrait.
